The Township of Clearview is delighted to receive a $35 million Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF) Grant from the Province of Ontario. The funding will be used to construct the Klondike Park Road Well Site, Reservoir and Pumping Station, providing water infrastructure for 4,000 single-detached equivalency homes.
“I am thrilled to hear that the province has granted this investment in our community.” Said Mayor, Doug Measures, “Clearview Township has been working towards this water resource for nearly a decade. Today we can bring focus on the effort that has been made by many councillors, staff, engineering consultants and property owners to bring Clearview forward as a growth destination in Simcoe County.”
He continued, “It's simple really, people want to move to our beautiful Township. Having safe, secure, and plentiful fresh water, piped into our Stayner water system has unlocked the opportunity for home ownership to many. Thank you to MPP Brian Saunderson, Infrastructure Ontario Minister, Kinga Surma, and the government of Ontario for the opportunity to partner in growing Clearview Township”.
The Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund helps municipalities develop, repair, rehabilitate and expand critical drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure. “Our water assets have been stranded for the last several years. Our water servicing has been at capacity, and thus we could not allocate any water to any project.” Said CAO, John Ferguson, “This infrastructure will help our community move forward.”
Director of Public Works, Dan Perreault is happy to see the project become reality, "I am thrilled that Clearview Township has secured the funding for the Klondike Park Road Well Site. This investment by the Province of Ontario is critical to enhancing the Township’s infrastructure, ensuring clean, safe and reliable drinking water for the residents of Clearview Township and the Community of Stayner. Township Staff are committed to responsibly managing these funds and delivering a project that meets the high standards our citizens deserve."
The construction tender will be prepared for Council’s approval and released immediately with construction planned to begin this summer.
